LOU RANAHAN, ASSOCIATE
As one of Canada’s foremost experts in aviation meteorology, Mr. Ranahan, provides senior meteorological advice, analysis and assessments for aviation projects. He has undertaken aviation climatological studies, requirements analyses, equipment assessments and site-specific airport planning advice for public and private sector clients in western and eastern Canada as well as in the Arctic. A graduate of St. Dunstan’s University, Mr. Ranahan served 30 years with the Department of Transport, Environment Canada, and the Department of National Defence, primarily in the field of aviation meteorology. His public service career stretched from operational forecasting at a military airbase to Director, Interagency Services responsible for co-ordinating all aviation weather services provided to NAV CANADA and National Defence by Environment Canada. He was presented with the Rube Hornstein Award in Operational Meteorology, Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
